Happy Labor Day!!! Today was not what we expected for our holiday. I envisioned that on Labor Day we would be at the lake, pool or something outside. But Chris and Dylan were not feeling well yesterday and then it has been raining off and on since last night. But we DID have some excitement today... a tornado warning!
It was our first tornado warning. Here is a phone picture of the kids (and Papa & Sasha's dog Bailey) hanging out in the basement.
It was a little bit exciting. I expected it to be a huge storm - but it was just raining (and not even that hard). I think I would have been more scared if the wind was blowing hard and it looked/felt more like a storm.
It hit our surrounding areas though. One house collapsed, power lines down, trees uprooted and blown over. I only heard of one person being taken to the hospital (they were in the basement of the house that collapsed).
We were down in the basement for about 30 minutes... and some of that was outside listening to the rain and the tornado sirens. Dylan was a little freaked out. Payton kept saying "Did they say tornado?" over and over again, copying the radio. It is so different than earthquakes where they hit and THEN you deal with the aftermath. It is weird waiting for something that may or may not happen.
Praise God for his protection!
