Last Day of 2012

Happy Last Day of 2012!

Best day of 2012:  April 22, when Rylan joined (and completed) our family.

I totally failed on my New Years Resolution this year.  I am back on September 12th for my daily reading.  BUT I am not giving up, I will continue to read until I have completed reading the Bible in chronological order.
I think I will skip making a resolution for 2013!  {smile}

Resolution Update

I'm still way behind.  I know, sad to admit it.  But that's the truth.  I am still trying to plug away at it, but I want to READ it . . . not just quickly read it to check it off my to-do list.
I am currently reading thru Hosea.  I have read "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers and that book is based on the book of Hosea, {Side note:  it is one of the best fiction books EVER.  If you haven't read it, you are missing out.  Go get it and read it.} so it is interesting to read through Hosea again.

Trying to Sit Up

So much fun to watch him grow!

Resolution Update:  I am 30 days behind, but I am still plugging along.  I am really enjoying "seeing" how books parallel each other.  Hopefully since school starts tomorrow (yikes!) for Dylan, I will be able to spend more time reading and catch up some more.

Filling a Pool

Ry Guy wakes up so happy in the morning.

Payton wrote her name all by herself ("Payon" with the "n" upside down):

Papa and Sasha bought a pool for the backyard.  After 3 days of them leveling the hard Georgia clay, it was finally time to fill it up!  The kids loved stomping around in the shallow water.

Here it is half way full.

After dinner, the pool was full and they got to go back in.

He's a little excited.

Payton is very happy that she can stand in the pool, keeping her head above the water.

Rylan chilling in the shade while they got to swim.

End of the month update on my New Year's Resolution:  I am waaaaaaaay behind.  As in - I am on May 27th.  I could list excuses (having a 2 month old, going to California, lack of sleep), but those don't matter; I still need to make spending time in the Word a priority.  I will be working on that in the month of July.

Oh and this is my 500th post.  Woo hoo!  Not sure why I think that is interesting for you to know... but there it is anyway.  =)

*****

Oh and since it is the end of the month (and I didn't post it last month), I thought I would update you on my New Year's Resolution.  I am a little behind.  I read thru May 14th so far.  Having a baby thru me off for a little while, but now I am back and catching up as quick as I can.  What I am really enjoying is seeing how 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles parallel each other.  I never put that together when reading in the past. {Doh!}
How are you doing on YOUR New Year's Resolution?

March Resolution Update

To read about my 2012 New Years Resolution, click {here}.
I am about 4 days behind.  But I have finished up the book of Numbers, read all of Deuteronomy and started Joshua.  Oh and had Psalm 90 thrown in one day and Psalm 91 a couple of weeks later.
I am still enjoying reading the Bible chronologically.  There are STILL things that I read that seem brand new to me, and things that are relevant to my life right now.  That makes it exciting!

How are you doing with your resolution???

February Resolution Update

How are YOU doing on your new years resolution?  See my list there?

I am plugging away at reading the Bible chronologically within a year!  {See my 2012 New Years Resolution post.}  This was the month to read Leviticus...the hardest book of the Bible for me to get through.  There are some great truths in there:  God is holy (19:2) and God sanctifies me (20:8), but the laws are tedious (for me) to get thru.
Anyway, to be completely transparent - I got behind this month.  At one point I was 8 days behind.  I decided to jump to the current day and then go back and catch up as I can...which meant today I had 5 "days" to read (to complete this month).  I read todays and then 3 "behind" days.  See February 22 on my list?  The one that is not marked off?  Yeah, I didn't read it.  So I am still behind!
My favorite verse that I read this month was:
Exodus 34:6
..."The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness"

Oh and Happy Leap Day!

Resolution Update

They say it takes 21 days to create a habit.  I must not be normal then.  It is a constant effort on my part to keep my new "habits" up.  I have decided that for me (at this point in my life), I need to be more relaxed with my resolutions.  If I was going to say, "Everyday I am going to get up at 5am to read my Bible." I would just be setting myself up for failure.

So to update you on my 2012 New Years Resolution... I have made it through the month of January!  Did I read everyday?  No.  Did I read the same time everyday? No.  Sometimes it worked for me to read right after breakfast, and sometimes it was in the afternoon, and even right before bed.

It's been interesting to read it in chronological order.  I started in Genesis for just a few chapters, then jumped to and read all of Job.  Then it was back where I left off in Genesis and finished it up, followed by starting Exodus.

It is also fun when you are re-reading something and make those "a-ha" connections.  I realized (this time) that Jacob tricked his father (Isaac) into blessing him as the oldest son (even though he was the youngest) and then when Jacob (who's name changed to Israel) was old and blessing his grandsons, Manasseh & Ephriam, he intentionally blessed the youngest with what customarily should have been the firstborn's blessing. (How's that for a run-on sentence?)  Interesting, right?

If you want to jump in and join me reading in chronological order click {here}.

~2012 Resolution~

A New Year brings new resolutions... and I didn't do so good with my 2011 resolution.  It was to do a 60 second plank every day (with hopes of working up to a lot longer than that).  Do-able right?  One minute a day commitment??  Yep - I blew that one!  I did good for 3-4 months then we moved, then I got pregnant and it is out the window completely.

This year my resolution is to read the Bible in chronological order....  Notice I didn't say "every day" because I will fail at that, but I hope that I will keep on top of it, maybe catching up on a weekend when I fall behind a day or two.

I found this reading schedule from Joni Eareckson Tada.

Click {here} to get the full schedule if you would like to join me!

Oh and happy new year!
