Where the Red Fern Grows {review}

When Dylan was in 1st grade I read the classic, Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls to him and he fell in love with it.  We found the movie and when we were watching it, he kept saying "That's not how he looks!" or "That's not how it went in the book!"  It was pretty funny!
Anywho, when we were commuting up to their old schools at the end of the last school year, we found this audiobook at the library and started listening to it. {Dylan loved it so he was excited to hear it again.}  The school year ended and we weren't in the car as much so we never finished it.  Then we got my car and the cd player doesn't work in it so we never got renewed the audio book from the library.
Recently I realized that we could download it on my phone {duh!} and we started listening to it again.  Even RYLAN was asking to turn on "Red Fern" when we were driving.
At first, the narrator sounded a little odd, but after the first chapter HE TOTALLY fit the book.  It really shouldn't have been anyone else.  So needless to say, this classic {both actual book AND audiobook} is definitely a favorite in our family!
I give it 5 stars.

The Power of a Praying Wife {review}

If I were to recommend just ONE book on marriage, this would be it.  I cannot say enough about how important it is to pray for your husband...and this book, The Power of a Praying Wife, helps you do just that!  I have read this book multiple times {even in January of THIS year!} and done book studies on it.  So you know I'm a fan.

This month, since it was Chris' birthday, I decided to read it again.  It is  super easy since it is 30 chapters, each written on one thing that we should be praying over.  At the end of each chapter there is an actual prayer that you can pray and Bible verses to support it.
If you are a wife, I HIGHLY recommend you getting a copy for yourself and be covering your husband in prayer!
{Also as a side note.  Chapter 1 is pretty lengthy.  The rest of the chapters are a quick read.}
{Another side note, Stormie Omartian has MANY similar books, Praying Husband, Praying Parent, Praying Kid, etc. Check them out!}
I give it 5+ stars.

Nope, I didn't read this book in one day...I'm just usually reading a couple of books at one time.  =)
Sweetwater Gap is another great Christian Chick Lit book that was an easy read for me.  I really do love Denise Hunter books!

The Nightingale {review}

I decided to try a different type of book than I normally read and I borrowed Kristin Hannah's The Nightingale from the library.  To be honest...it took me awhile to read it.  It was slow at first.  I didn't totally understand what was going on. And then Dylan returned the book with his stack of library books {doh!} and I had to wait to get the e-book from the library. But then it got good...and I couldn't put it down.  It was so good that I kept talking to Chris about it.
It is set in WW2 with Hilter coming into power {see, not my normal go-to book!}, and how 2 sisters became heroines because of their circumstances.  I loved the book and actually learned a lot of history reading it.
I give this book 5 stars!
And it does have some PG-13 stuff in it.  I so wish books had ratings on it like movies...that way you know what your getting into!

December Bride {book review}

I finished A December Bride by Denise Hunter yesterday.  It's a super quick read {obviously since it is a novella!}.  It was cute, and probably great for a novella...but I wanted more.  More background, more detail, just more.  It is the 12th book in "A Year of Weddings" series by a bunch of different authors. So I guess, I could read them all.  But I probably won't. {ha!}
I give this book 3 stars!

The Goodbye Bride {review}

If it can be made into a Hallmark Movie...I'm probably gonna like the book.  Funny enough though, I don't watch too many Hallmark Movies! The Goodbye Bride is another, cute, clean and lighthearted romance novel by Denise Hunter. I read through this one quickly!
I give this book 5 stars!
