Week #44 {2015}

Sunday morning Snapchatting session and this pic of Payton CRACKED me up.
The other day my friend had a great polish on. She texted me a pic of the bottle and the color (Steel Gray). After searching for it at Target and Walmart with no luck, I went online and found that it was discontinued {boo!}. BUT I did find a bottle of it on eBay! So I had to wait a few days, but got myself a bottle. Yippee!
Payton's desk needed to be redone...again. Click {here} to see it originally. It had a bunch of crayon, marker, pen, and pencil marks all over it {naturally, of course!}. And it didn't really go with her room anymore. Chris had an idea and ran with it....2 days later he was done.
He did SUCH a great job!
This nightstand {that Sasha gave to Payton} was his inspiration.
I wanted something sweet so P, Ry and I made some Rocky Road Brownies. {Well I made them, they ate marshmallows.}
While we were working on Rylan's "homeschool", he said "Momma, I'm gonna write a P." I looked over and sure enough he was writing a P
My mom2mom group had a girls night out. One of the girls planned a progressive dinner in Dowtown Franklin. We had appetizers at Gray's on Main, entries at 55 South, and the coffee/dessert at Frothy Monkey. It was a blast.
Tuesday and little man is STILL not feeling well...poor guy! So we stayed home from mom2mom.
The second that Dylan gets home from school, these two sword fight and wrestle for an hour straight. I don't know which one looks forward to it more.
Lately this is what Rylan does when I ask him to smile. He's got "baby Ryan" in the stroller. He got her from the dog store and he and Payton take care of her together because they are fam-a-lee.
Wednesday Rylan helped me fold the rags and when I walked back in he had made towers (from Jenga pieces) in front of each one.
Then he lived up to his pajamas and monkeyed around for a bit.
We {Chris, Ry and I} went on a lunch date to Delta Bound. People have been raving about it and it TOTALLY lives up to its hype. I'm still dreaming about the Down & Dirty Brisket Taco.
{Clockwise: Red Beans & Rice, Down & Dirty Brisket Street Taco, Southern Fried Chicken Street Taco}
Chris used his birthday money and bought us a coffee bar. First drink he made? A Butterscotch Macchiado. It was perfect.
Thursday. Gas prices have been so low that I'm not really surprised by it anymore. But today I realized that this was the price of gas when I first got my license...TWENTY years ago!
Payton's school had a fun run
{the same day as crazy hair day} and she ran 45 laps!
She ran her little heart out the entire time. I'm so proud of this girl!
I think I'm really going to like Chris' birthday gift!
Life's rough driving your brother to TKD practice.
Fall sure is pretty here. The colors are stunning and it amazes me to see different colors inside the tree vs the outside and then different colors from top to bottom. God is amazing!
Friday I made lasagna for {I think} the 2nd or 3rd time in my life. Chris said it was his favorite meal I've ever made. {Yay!}
Saturday was Halloween. You can read about it {here}!

I'm Back!

Well, I didn't mean to take a month off from blogging . . .  but I
moved
didn't have internet for a couple of weeks
had my mom out for a week (yea!)
have a teething 18 month old (molars are the worst!)
and am trying to adjust to being a Nashvillian (is that even a word)?
I MAY catch up on old posts, but we will have to wait and see.

So here is where we are living for the next 6 months.
I am very proud of our table and chairs that Chris refinished and recovered.
He rocks.
Because of said teething 18 month old waking up in the middle of the night, I'm tired.
I woke up from a quick afternoon nap today to this.
A sweet picture and a cup of iced tea from Payton.
After dinner we bundled up (because it got really cold, really fast this week), and went to play catch and swing on the swings.

Notes, Frost & Dylan's Bed

Woke up this morning to sweet notes from Dylan:
Stepped outside and everything was covered with frost.  The air was crisp and fresh.  It was beautiful (for 3 minutes then I ran in to get next to the fire)!
Dylan thought it had snowed.
Remember Chris and his dad were working on Dylan's bed?  Well Chris finished it this week and here it is...
It got 2 thumbs up from Dylan.
Such a boys bed.
I am sick of being sick.  I am going on 8 days.  Two of those days I felt great and thought I was over it - but I relapsed.  Ugh!  A couple of days ago Chris got sick too.  The kids have a cough in the morning and then are fine the rest of the day.  I just pray we are on the tail end of it!

Hugh and other things...

We have our own resident "Hugh" in the house.  He loves being in his robe.  I was trying to get a picture of him showing his shirtless, pajama pant and robe look, but you get the idea!
I joined the world of Pinterest this week.  I came across some yummy looking biscuit recipe made with 7-Up.  So I made them this morning....

Seriously, DE-lish!  4 ingredients:  Bisquick, Sour Cream, 7-Up & Butter.  I will only make my biscuits this way from now on.  You should try them!

Went to Bed Bath & Beyond and saw these:
Really?  Really.  I don't know what else to say.  So let's move on.

Fall is really pretty here.  I don't think these pictures do it justice so you just need to visit and see them for yourself!

View from my bedroom window (10 days ago).
Looking out into the backyard this morning.
In a parking lot at the shopping center.
These are such a beautiful red.

Payton loves her big girl bed (did I mention that she slept through the night last night - Woo Hoo!)  Here she is "reading" to herself...

Other than that, I had 2 days where I felt great and thought I was done being sick - then last night it hit me again. Oh and Chris is sick now too.  Fun times!

Payton's Bed & Dining Room Table

Chris finished Payton's bed.
 Payton sure LOVES it.  She looks so small in in!
Now hopefully she will sleep through the night in a "big girl bed".  {insert: daydreaming sigh}

I posted yesterday about Chris finishing our dining room chairs.  Here is the finished set:
Table and 4 chairs.  We did 2 chairs with that floral print and 2 chairs with the black, cream and green stripes.
He wants to build a bench seat for one side of the table since our family of 4 will be growing to 5...
I married one talented man!

While I was sick...

Chris has been a mad-man knocking out all the furniture refinishing (Almost all [95%] of our furniture was thrashed during our moves and needed to be redone).  Plus we have black furniture and it is very hard to keep up.  I wanted to go lighter and brighter.

He got a LOT done while I was sick and even completed a few items.
Here is our dining room chairs before:
This was the only pic that I could find that sorta shows the chairs.  This was last Christmas and the kids were making cookies for Santa!

Here is what the chairs look like now:
He primed them, painted them navajo white and then antiqued them.

We have been searching for a material to work everything off of.  We went to Joann's twice and nothing was exactly what I wanted.  I had an idea in my head, but couldn't relate it to Chris.  We found this at WalMart (of all places) and it was perfect!  I had told him that I wanted to get away from the black and he came up with the white antiquing.
Can you see the detail of the antiquing?

Now flash back to the day we bought Payton's desk...  Sasha (my m-i-l) found a glass top dining room table that she wanted to redo and use.
{And do you think that I took a picture of it before???  Of course not!  That would have been the smart thing to do.}
Just imagine the base was a dark oak.  Chris started and finished this table while I was sick.

He did the same thing as the chairs.  Primed it, painted it navajo white and them antiqued it.
Didn't he do an amazing job?
