A Cool Thing Happened

We went to WalMart a couple of days ago (goin-into town!), and had a really cool thing happen. Chris went thru the Self Checkout while I took Payton to the bathroom for the upteen-trillionth time. He handed me the receipt and I looked at it:
Notice anything wrong with it??? Ok, besides the Top Ramen, candy and chimichangas!!! (This wasn't a grocery shopping trip, we mainly needed fruit and of course impulse buys get thrown in...)

Our peaches rang up for $.03, nectarines for $.04, gala apples for $.05, tomatoes for $.05 and bananas for $.02!!! I know you can't SEE what we bought, but it was a HUGE bag of fruits (yes, tomatoes are fruits - look it up) and even ONE piece of fruit will ring up for way more.

So I went over to Customer Service and pointed it out, thinking that they would have to return everything and re-ring it up. The sweet old lady behind the counter was dumbfounded and chuckling about it. She called over the manager and showed her as well. The manager said, "Well, just let it go this time and I will go and fix the scales". The lady turned to me and said, "Ok there you go!" I said, "Really?" and she said "Yes". Another employee said, "Thank you for coming and telling us!" So we probably got $15-$20 worth of fruit for free.... What a huge blessing from God!

Yesterday and Today

Since I posted a video yesterday announcing baby #3, I completely forgot to post about the actual day...

Walking to the school bus yesterday morning we saw this HUGE butterfly.
Just the side of it's wing was about the size of my palm.

For nap time Dylan let Payton use his bed...and his bears. This is how I found her sleeping.

Now for today....
Dylan and Payton invented a new game called "Hockey Board Slide".
There was a lot of pushing, rowing, and tipping going on. At least with helmets on, they were safe!
I love that they can (sometimes) play so well together!

Princess and a Frog

Ahhh, the joys of parenting. On our way out the door for church this morning, Payton decided to do this:
I don't even remember what it was about, but I'm glad I have a picture to show her when she grows up!

After church we came home, and took a nap (not Dylan - he watched a movie). When we woke up, we went outside to play and this is what Dylan caught.
He was under Papa and Sasha's car and Dylan provided some great entertainment watching him try to catch it.
He's not happy being in a cage. Don't worry, we let him go a couple of hours later.

What I ate...

This is the week of me forgetting to take pictures of my food. We ate out a lot this week and I have a hard time remembering to whip my camera out... So with that in mind, here you go:
Sunday August 21, 2011
Zaxby's Chicken Fingerz (3)
Baked Beans

We were at our church for a New Members meeting and they served us this yummy meal. I of course forgot to take a picture, but I ate almost everything listed. I guess you could say I was hungry? Or maybe that if it is in front of me, I will eat it. Let's go for the second one.
Anyhoo, it was my first time eating Zaxby's and I look forward to eating there again!

Monday August 22, 2011
Turkey Sandwich (I know, SO gourmet)

Tuesday August 23, 2011
Green and White Salad
Half an Onion Bagel

Wednesday August 24, 2011
The Varsity Hamburger
The Varsity Onion Rings

I forgot to take a picture before I started eating... I ate the whole hamburger and one more onion ring.

This was the night of our church's Tailgate Kickoff Party. They provided dinner for free from The Varsity! Thanks FCBA! The Varsity is a big deal in Georgia. It is the worlds largest drive in restaurant and around since 1928. But I sadly have to wasn't good. It was so greasy (even on top of the hamburger bun). Well, at least now I can say I've eaten a Varsity burger!

Thursday August 25, 2011
Blue Cheese Wedge
Chips and Salsa

I again forgot to take a picture so this is the half way done shot. And just imagine chips and salsa.

Friday August 26, 2011
Taco Salad
Spanish Rice

Saturday August 27, 2011
African Chicken

My parents grew up as missionary kids in Africa. So this was a meal that we ate a few times a year and always looked forward to it. It is super yummy. My dad always joked with guests that it had monkey meat in it! Although it doesn't LOOK very pretty - I promise it tastes wonderful. This was my first time making it and of course, my mom's is better.

Love Them

Dylan and "Ginger Snap"

Payton is on a kick where we are supposed to call her Ginger Snap. You know from "Straw-a-a-berry Shortcake"?
Oh and don't mind her little purple lip. I haven't gotten the whole story but it had to do with Dylan and his skate board in the air... {shaking my head}

Taco Mac

We went to "linner" at Taco Mac today. (Linner= Lunch + Dinner, you know when you eat around 3pm?)

And yes it is called Taco Mac. It is such a poorly named restaurant. It is a sports brewery with a gajillion tv screens showing the games and serving yummy food: buffalo wings, burgers, chicken sandwiches, tacos, fajitas, salads, soups, etc. {Click here to see the menu.}

For the buffalo wings you get to pick your wing sauce: Lemon Pepper Rub, Mild, Medium, Hot, 3-Mile Island, Habanero Barbeque, and Death. Yes, the kind with the skull and cross bones on the picture.

They have a dish called Buffalo Chicken Tacos that I want to try next time. Buffalo wings, blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes all wrapped up in a tortilla? Ummmmm...count me in!

Anyhoo - here is a pic of Payton waiting for her burger. :)
So if you drive pass a Taco Mac, stop in. I think you will like the food too!

Family Photo!

Our church had a tailgate party today to kick off all the studies and activities starting in the fall. We were to wear our favorite sports team gear. (Side note: We should all be wearing Cowboys gear.) So weird to be the only ones in the crowd wearing Angels shirts. There are a lot of Georgia Bulldog fans here.

I got our friend Tamara, to take this picture for us. Thanks Tamara!

Today & Mrs. Curtis

I have no pictures of today (boo). It wasn't very exciting. I spent most of the day on the phone and at the bank (2 times) trying to get an issue resolved. They deposited our checks then pulled them out and were going to hold them for 7 days. Agh! Let's just say it got my blood pressure up. I showed up the second time to the bank with a big smile and said "The squeeky wheel gets the grease right?" I sat in the branch managers office for about an hour and they finally fixed the situation. Praise the LORD!

We did make it to Costco and WalMart though. So that was productive. Oh and we had Curriculum Night at Dylan's school...

I really like love his teacher, Mrs. Curtis. She has been teaching for years. Nothing seems to get under her feathers. Another mom said her son won't be motivated by a party (a reward for reading books in the class) and Mrs. Curtis response was, "Oh I have my ways to get them motivated". She has a wealth of ideas and experiences to draw from to deal with each type of personality. It is just what Dylan needs. So thankful that God placed him in her class.

My Little Pony Love

This is what Payton did for quiet time today instead of taking a nap...
She played quietly for 30 minutes.
It was so cute to hear her little voice whispering as she was playing make believe.
I remember loving My Little Ponies when I was little. {grin}

At the Market Today

Look at what we found at the market today...
Hummmm for a girl who L.O.V.E.S. Girl Scout Samoa Cookies, this was a wonderful find.
They aren't exactly like the original, but I would say they got it 95% right. And since these are available all year round AND only $2.39 per package it's a win-win for me. Woo hoo! Way to go Keebler!

The other thing we found was a "SlimCado"
It says it's 35% less calories and 50% less fat. Since it was only $1.25 (way less than regular avocados) we decided to give it a shot! It was huge. Look at it in comparison to my hand.
It looks normal on the inside. Maybe a little paler shade of green.
Verdict? It is great! It is a bit firmer and sweeter than a regular avocado. It won't replace a regular avocado for me, but if this is cheaper or the same price I will definitely get it again.

You will have to wait until Saturday for "What I Ate" to see what I used it in.

Have you had either of these? What did you think?

Lewis Restorations

Remember when I posted about our finished table that we were going to sell? Well I finally listed it on CraigsList today. Then I started a basic website (and I mean b.a.s.i.c.) for us to list each item as it gets finished. Want to check it out? Click here to visit "Lewis Restorations". I am not loving the background or the color of the blue font so those will be changing soon. But at least you get an idea of what we are doing. Let me know if you see any typos or anything that I need to change. Thanks!

The Violet Burning

I went for a jog/walk this morning and grabbed Chris' iPod for a change in music. We had added tons of our CDs (read: HIS music and MY music) to his iPod a few years ago. I like to play the music on shuffle and was SO excited when this song came on...
I played it 3 times in a row. It is such a good reminder of what Jesus did for us!

Getting Ready for the Week

Here the kids are coloring Dylan's lunch sacks for the week. Payton even colors some for him.
I write notes on the napkins for Dylan each day. Is it bad that I still sign it "Mommy"?
For other news, it looks like we have finally found a church home! Can't wait to get involved and start serving. :) Thank you to each one of you who were praying for us for this - it is a huge answer to prayer!

Here is what I ate this week for dinner:

Thursday August 11, 2011

Friday August 12, 2011
Homemade BBQ Chicken Pizza
(and yes, I went back for seconds...I guess I was hungry!)
Saturday August 13, 2011
Would you believe me if I told you this is what I ate for dinner?
If you knew me at all, of course you would say "yes". I said this was for dinner because we ate it around 6:45pm. BUT we had a "Linner" (lunch/dinner) at 2:30 which was this:
Turkey Bagel Sandwich
So does THAT make it better?

Did you eat anything yummy this week that I should try?
