Beer Bread {recipe}

Beer bread is perfect to serve as an appetizer hot out of the oven (with butter of course), or as a side to a meat dish, hearty chili or even a salad.  There is a light sweetness to this dense bread and in the background is a hint of beer smell.  Yes, I said smell.  I don't like the taste or flavor of beer, but the smell of beer in this recipe is WON.DER.FUL!  It tastes like beer smells.  Weird?  Probably but just go with me on this one!

So are you ready for the EASIEST and YUMMIEST Beer Bread recipe?  You need to gather these 3 ingredients (yes, only three!).

You can experiment with different beers.  I've tried a darker beer (New Castle), but I prefer a light beer for this recipe.
Mix the ingredients together and place into a greased loaf pan. And bake!  Or if you are impatient like me, split it into 2 pans and bake it for half the time.
Wa-la!  Super easy, super yummy, super tasty beer bread.  Try it - you will thank me later!

My Beer Bread

3 cups Self-Rising Flour
12 ounces Beer
1/4 cup sugar

1 - Mix ingredients together.
2 - Place into a greased 9 x 5 loaf pan.
3 - Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean).

Also, you can brush melted butter over the top for the last 5 minutes of cooking time to give a golden crust.

If you don't have self-rising flour on hand, did you know you can make your own?  Here is the recipe to make one cup of self-rising flour:

Self-Rising Flour

1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
