Dylan's Belt Testing

Tonight Dylan tested for his 1st Degree Level 4 Black Belt in taekwondo.
 This guy was a little more interested in the testing now that he's in taekwondo too.
 And notice I said, "a little more interested"?  He got easily distracted with a video game Payton was playing.
Dylan was a little nervous for this testing,
 but I think he did great!
He chose to do a {challanging} twist kick {and a flying Superman Palm Heel} for his board breaking portion.
 We are super proud of this guy,
 and his accomplishments in TKD.
Awards ceremony is next week!

Rylan's 1st Belt Testing

Today Rylan had his very first taekwondo belt testing.
 He sat super still {we were super impressed}.
 Here's one of the videos that I took.
 After a bit, he got bored and starting flicking his cheek. Ha!
 But the coolest thing is that both sets of grandparents were able to be there to watch him! Papa Nutt & Gigi
 and Papa & Yaya.
If he passes he will be a white belt with a yellow stripe.  Awards ceremony is next Friday!

Week # 38 {2016}

Sunday - We've had a bunch of huge caterpillars around lately...and I don't ever remember seeing one  like the one on the right.  It was bizarre.
I love when Rylan willingly grabs my hand, to tells me he loves me.  I want to remember these moments forever.
Monday - Ry like to play board games, so we get creative on what the "rules" are.  Today was Upwards and he was spelling out his name and words I was writing down on paper for him.  {Notice he puts the letters right to left?}
Then he was SUPER stoked to get his black stripe at TKD.  That means he can now test for his next belt.
After class the kids and I took dinner down to Chris, Craig & Sasha who were unloading their moving truck to a storage unit.
This ninja was being a big help protecting us. {wink}
On the way home, the littles were rocking out.  Did anyone grow up listening to Psalty like I did?
Little man crashed out when we got home.
Tuesday's toddler busy work is brought to you by Costco.  I would love to take credit for this idea, but Ry did it all on his own.
For dinner I made Shepherd's Pie.  Actually Cottage Pie...  Did you know if it is made with lamb it is called Shepard's Pie and if it is made with beef you call it Cottage Pie?
And Ry and I made Lime Bars for dessert.  Yum!
Wednesday we headed to the park.  They have this awesome sandbox that always has a ton of Tonka trucks in it...and they never get stolen.  I love living in a small town!
A few months back they updated the play equipment and Ry was excited to check it out.
I finished another book.  P.S. It was good!
Dylan wanted me to make a "breakfast type dessert" for him to take to Souled Out {a Christian club at his school} so I made Cowboy Cookies since there are Corn Flakes in them.
Friday this cute girl...
got to take this cute guy to school with her for Donuts with Dad.
Once he got home we hit up Marcy Jo's Mealhouse.  It has become our favorite breakfast place.  The cinnamon rolls are a-maz-ing.
Saturday Chris finished the coffee table he has been working on.  He did an amazing job.  I love it!

Distant Echoes {book review}

Distant Echoes is another great book by Colleen Coble!  It's the first book in the Aloha Reed Series and a couple of characters from her Rock Harbor Series make a cameo.  This is a quick, lighthearted read about a dolphin trainer in Hawaii. I give it 4 stars!

Week #37 {2016}

Sunday early morning Snapchatting.
 Monday I had to go to work for a bit and Ry went and played at Gigi's house.  He made some yummy treats,
 and took the dog on a walk.
 That night after I got back from Dylan's Open House, the kids had set a table setting for me and served me dinner.  It was sweet.
 Tuesday I found this drawing on my phone from Ry.
Wednesday Dylan and I got to see a stunning sunrise at the bus stop.
 That afternoon Ry was estatic to get his 2nd orange stripe in taekwondo {for being the one who paid attention and listened most in class}.
 Then I took this goober to church for youth group.
 Thursday morning's sunrise.  God is certainly good, isn't he?
 After school Payton drew a self portrait.
Friday morning was sure beautiful at Run Club with Payton.
 That night I had a craving for Pineapple Upside Down Cake.  Yum!
Saturday while the kids stayed with Papa & Yaya, we went out to dinner with my parents, Uncle Barry {although he's technically not my uncle!}, Darrell & Candice {long time friends of our family}.  It was fun to catch up with them.
